MEMBERSHIP OF SAAD

Membership of SAAD is open to any registered medical or dental practitioner whether based in the UK or abroad.

The Society’s work is only possible through the support of its members. This work includes:

  • Regular running of SAAD Postgraduate Courses in London and other centres in the United Kingdom and periodically overseas.
  • SAAD courses for dental nurses which are usually in conjunction with SAAD Postgraduate Course and Seminars.
  • The SAAD Evaluation Programme which assesses operator, premises, equipment and staff and is of great value in relation to the implementation of contemporary standards.
  • Representation on committees of enquiry, study groups, and virtually all official advisory bodies concerned with dental anaesthesia and sedation.
  • Advice to professional protection societies and, if necessary, provision of expert witnesses.
  • Records of (and enquiries into) all tragedies occurring in the United Kingdom in connection with the treatment of dental patients.
  • The furthering of research into the dental uses of new drugs as they are developed.
  • Helping those members of the public who require particularly the services of dentists using modern pain and anxiety control methods.
  • Functioning as a member of the International Federation of Dental Anaesthesiology
  • Societies- IFDAS - (which gives each SAAD member automatic membership).

Priority is also given to members requesting places on courses and Seminars at a reduced rate.

No other organisation offers such comprehensive activity in relation to pain and anxiety control in dentistry.
